Her father is Irish-Scottish and is of Irish descendance. Mitchell is also Lea Salonga's cousin, the renowned musical theater actor and singer. Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary School before moving into West Vancouver Secondary. As she grew older, Mitchell had worked with various modeling agencies all over the world. She travelled to Barcelona, Bangkok, Hong Kong and finally returned home to Toronto where she began studying acting.
